Job summary

Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) is seeking a part-time Rehabilitation Assistant to support the treatment team. The role involves leading individual and group activities, assisting with therapeutic and recreational programs, and helping transport patients within the facility.

CRC will be required due to work with vulnerable populations. The position reports to the Manager or designate, with responsibilities including communication of progress to therapists and collaboration with support

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out individual and group therapeutic, recreational, and physical activities to improve and maintain patients' functional abilities.
• Provide direction to volunteers during activity programs.
• Transport patients and residents to and from treatment or activity area.
• Report observations on progress to the Therapist.

Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient & staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reports to the Manager or designate. Under the general direction of the treating Staff Therapist, carries out individual and group therapeutic, recreational, and physical activities to improve and maintain the functional abilities of patients and residents. Performs related functions such as providing direction to volunteers during activity programs, transporting patients and residents to and from treatment or activity area, and reporting observations on progress to Therapist.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
