Job summary

Vancouver Island Health Authority is seeking a Rehabilitation Assistant to support clients in the community to reach rehabilitation goals and maximize independence. You will work under the direction of Rehabilitation Therapists (OT/PT/Speech) to carry out care plans and adjust activities as progress is made.

This full-time role in Qualicum Beach requires completion of a two-year Rehabilitation Assistant program with two years of related experience, plus a valid BC driver's licence.

Qualifications

• Completion of a two year Rehabilitation Assistant Program plus two (2) years recent, related experience; or an equivalent of education, training and experience.
• Valid BC Driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients in the community to achieve rehabilitation goals and maximize their independence.
• Provide direct and indirect client care under the clinical direction of Rehabilitation Therapists (Occupational, Physical, Speech and Recreation Therapists).
• Discuss modifications, changes or progressions to the care plan prior to implementation.
• Travel may be required between multiple sites; personal vehicle may be used to meet service requirements.

Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, the Rehabilitation Assistant works as a member of an interprofessional team assisting clients in the community to achieve their rehabilitation goals and maximize their potential for independence. The Rehabilitation Assistant provides direct and indirect client care under the clinical direction of Rehabilitation Therapists (Occupational, Physical, Speech and Recreation Therapists) following the care plan as determined by the Rehabilitation Therapist(s) and discussing any modifications, changes or progressions to the plan prior to implementation.

Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of a two year Rehabilitation Assistant Program plus two (2) years recent, related experience; or an equivalent of education, training and experience. Valid BC Driver's licence.
