An established health care system is seeking a Patient Service Representative to join their Imaging Department. This role is vital in ensuring smooth patient registration and managing insurance verifications. Responsible for registration of patients, verification of insurance benefits, pre-certifications, and verification of demographic information. Responsibilities may also include financial assistance referrals and providing financial assistance as needed. This role involves cash collections and posting receipts. The Patient Service Representative (PSR) may be required to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays. The PSR may also be responsible for paging various code situations and must be knowledgeable of Safety policies and procedures. Bilingual skills are preferred.
Additional duties at Montgomery Campus, Richmond Campus, and Hoke Campus include assisting in chart preparation and other office duties as assigned by the supervisor. The individual will make announcements on the overhead paging system, including emergency notifications, and contact relevant parties through the paging system. Responsibilities also include answering the main switchboard.
The following, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this position:
Education/formal training/licenser/certification/experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Understanding of medical terminology. Two years of experience in a medical-related field is preferred.
Additional Skills:
Strong verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and in an organized manner. Must be able to type at least 35 words per minute and be computer literate. A commitment to excellent customer service when dealing with all patients, internal and external, is essential.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
This position is primarily based in an office environment. Potential exposure to communicable diseases exists.
Essential Sensory Requirements:
Visual acuity at both far (20 feet or more) and near (20 inches or less) distances.

Potential exposure to chemicals, infectious agents, electrical hazards, and fire hazards. Exposure to blood and body fluids requires proper Biohazard precautions.
