Job summary

Sault Area Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, ON, seeks a Registered Technologist in Radiology for Diagnostic Imaging on a temporary casual basis. You will support the DI area, perform a range of imaging exams and ensure safe operation of ionizing radiation sources.

Responsibilities include exam preparation, patient positioning, image quality control and collaboration with Radiologists. Training in CT may be required; hospital policy emphasizes confidentiality and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of Medical Radiation Technology.
• Registration with C.M.R.I.T.O and CAMRT membership in good standing.
• Ability to work in Diagnostic Imaging within a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and equipment for procedures.
• Perform DI exams including fluoroscopy, CT, mammography and interventional procedures.
• Ensure accurate patient identification and consent where required.
• Assist radiologists and position patients for optimal imaging.
• Maintain radiation safety and patient privacy.
• Review images and ensure exam requests are fully answered.

Registered Technologist – Radiology – Diagnostic Imaging – Temporary Casual

• Registered Technologist – Radiology – Diagnostic Imaging – Temporary Casual

Purpose:

The Medical Radiation Technologist is responsible for the efficient and effective completion of ordered DI examinations and the day to day operation of the area to which they are assigned within the Diagnostic Imaging Department. Technologists are responsible for the safe dispensing of controlled energy sources as defined by the Regulated Health Professional Act including ionizing radiation.

Duties:

• Exam and equipment preparation;
• Ensure an orderly work area
• Prepare patients
• Arrange equipment needed
• Prioritize waiting exams.
• Perform DI Exams( Including but not limited to Fluoroscopic, CT, Mammography, Interventional procedures).
• Confirm patient and exam identification (Double Identify)
• Obtain consent and verify pregnancy potential
• Assist Radiologist as needed
• Position the patient as required for examination or treatment
• Perform procedures involving the application or administration of ionizing radiation only when the conditions under the applicable legislation (including, without limitation, the Healing Arts Radiation Protection Act and its regulations
• Perform only those controlled acts that have been authorized, or exempted or accepted under the legislation, or delegated in accordance with the legislation and the Comprehensive Guidelines.
• Use radiation protection devices and other patient protection devices as required.
• Instruct the patient on breathing and movement procedures.
• Ensure that the orientation of the body and other pertinent parameters are marked correctly on the image.
• Documentation and Assessment:
• Ensure the exposure provides optimum image quality while using minimal radiation.
• Ensure examination results provide all the information requested in the order.
• Carry out the procedures ordered.
• Assess the patient’s condition during the course of treatment or procedures and respond accordingly.
• Determine if the image is of sufficient diagnostic quality or if additional or repeat images are necessary.
• View and complete exams and paperwork in PACS and Meditech at exam completion.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Ordering of Departmental Supplies and requisitioning maintenance service in emergencies or on weekends.
• Trouble shoot to resolve technical equipment problems and determine the need to call service. Place service calls and log equipment concerns.
• Perform ECG Testing.
• Transfer exams to IsECG ECG Management system.
• Promote professionalism within the Department with particular emphasis in confidentiality, personal appearance and teamwork.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Graduate from an Accredited school of Medical Radiation Technology
• Registration with C.M.R.I.T.O
• Member in good standing of the C.A.M.R.T.

Note: Because of the changing nature of the work and work to be done, other responsibilities and duties may be assigned and qualifications may be adjusted from time to time.
