Job summary

Timmins and District Hospital is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to join the Cardio department. You will deliver diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory services in line with professional standards and hospital policies, contributing to 24/7 patient care with 8- and 12-hour shifts and weekend coverage.

Job description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist is an Allied Health Specialist who works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to evaluate and treat chronic and acute cardio-respiratory disease.

• Current sign-on incentive of up to $10,000, subject to terms.
• Starting salary of $38.35/hour; $74,782.50/year (As per Step 1 of the OPSEU collective agreement) ranging to $53.28/hour; $103,896.00/year (As Step 9 of the OPSEU collective agreement).
• Option to enroll in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
• Option to enroll in BlueCross health and dental benefits.
• Relocation reimbursement program of up to $3,000, if relocating from outside of Northeastern Ontario subject to terms.

Position Responsibilities

• To work as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in the Cardiopulmonary Department.
• To provide diagnostic and therapeutic services consistent with discipline specific standards of practice while adhering to the hospital policies, procedures, guidelines and directives.
• All other duties are captured in the applicable Job Description.
• Bilingualism in both official languages would be an asset.
• All TADH staff members must follow the COVID-19 vaccination series in accordance with the most up-to-date vaccine guidance provided by the Ontario Ministry of Health.

Position Requirements

• Must hold a current General Certificate of Registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
• A demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining effective relationships with clients and all members of the health care team is required along with excellent problem solving and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in the provision of quality cardiorespiratory care.
• Willingness to adapt to new concepts, techniques and best practice.
• Must possess the verbal ability to communicate orally with patients, physicians and other medical personnel to give and receive information or instructions and to write clear and accurate reports.
• Must possess the numerical ability to make mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.
• Must be BCLS certified and physically able to perform CPR modalities to the standards of the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation.
• A willingness to work 8- and 12-hour shifts and weekend shifts as per the collective agreement to provide 24/7 coverage.
• Employment history which demonstrates regular attendance at work.
• Must possess the ability to provide effective services to clients/patients in both English and French. Individuals who do not meet the language requirements of this post are invited to submit their résumé for consideration.
