Job summary

The Royal Ottawa Health Care Group is recruiting an RPN to support the Nursing Resource Team, floating to all hospital units as required. The role emphasizes patient-centered care, clinical assessment, and collaboration with an inter-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of recognized Diploma Program in Practical Nursing.
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Knowledge of CNO Standards regarding RPN scope of practice.
• Understanding of MHA and relevant legislation.
• CPR/AED Certification within the last 2 years.
• Completion of Prevention of Violence in the Workplace training (C.P.I.) required.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development
• Technical skills such as glucometer reading, vital signs, injection skills, physical assessment/mental health assessment, catheterization, medication administration, O2 administration, basic wound care, suctioning, safe patient handling, bladder scanning, ECT recovery, skin care and feeding
• Ability to develop therapeutic relations with patients
• Ability to function as a member of the inter-disciplinary team
• Basic computer skills required

Responsibilities

• Float between hospital units to provide nursing coverage as needed.
• Deliver direct patient care and contribute to nursing assessments.
• Collaborate with the inter-disciplinary team to plan and implement care.
• Maintain patient safety, infection control, and documentation standards.
• Monitor patient responses and escalate concerns as appropriate.
