Responsibilities of a Registered Practical Nurse

• Preparing and administering medications and treatments as directed by the Physician and in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario’s Medication Administration Standards.
• Documenting and following up on concerns and complaints from clients, families, or team members, and informing or seeking assistance from the Registered Nurse or designate.
• Promoting client self-care, wellness, and preventative health education, treating the whole person.
• Completing assessments, care plans, and other documentation within required timeframes.
• Supporting unregulated care workers through guidance, training, and education.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current registration as an RPN with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current BCLS and Medication Administration Certificates.
• Minimum of one year experience in Geriatric Nursing, Healthcare, or Rehabilitation.
• Successful Vulnerable Sector Check (Ontario) and Criminal Records Check (British Columbia).

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-graduate studies in Geriatrics or Nursing Administration are assets.
