Job summary

Rx Connect Specialty Pharmacy is seeking a Registered Pharmacy Technician to support remote dispensing at a Remote Dispensing Location while aiding reimbursement processes for biologic and specialty medications. You will work under a pharmacist, maintain patient profiles in the Kroll system, and help ensure compliant, efficient pharmacy operations.

This role requires Ontario registration, a Pharmacy Technician diploma, and a minimum of two years in pharmacy operations and reimbursement

Qualifications

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with Ontario College of Pharmacists in good standing.
  • Diploma in Pharmacy Technician or related healthcare field.
  • Minimum two years of pharmacy operations experience including dispensing support and documentation.
  • Minimum two years of reimbursement navigation experience with public/private payers.
  • Hands-on experience with Kroll Pharmacy Management System.
  • Strong PHIPA knowledge and adherence to regs and SOPs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform core Registered Pharmacy Technician duties at the Remote Dispensing Location per OCP standards.
  • Support prescription processing, dispensing activities, labeling, and documentation under pharmacist supervision.
  • Maintain accurate patient profiles and dispensing records in Kroll.

  • Ensure PHIPA compliance and follow internal SOPs.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, audits, and corrective actions as required.
  • Communicate with patients, prescribers, clinics, and healthcare professionals to support treatment.
  • Liaise with public and private insurers to determine coverage options and resolve issues.

Role Summary :

Reporting to the Manager, the Registered Pharmacy Technician is a hands‑on role responsible for providing pharmacy technician services at a Remote Dispensing Location (RDL) while actively supporting reimbursement processes for biologic and specialty medications.
The role combines regulated pharmacy duties with reimbursement coordination to support patient access, accurate dispensing, and compliant pharmacy operations.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pharmacy Technician & RDL Operations
  • Perform coreRegistered Pharmacy Technician dutiesat the assigned Remote Dispensing Location (RDL) in accordance with OCP standards and company policies.
  • Support prescription processing, dispensing activities, order fulfillment, labelling, and documentation under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Maintain accurate patient profiles, prescriptions, and dispensing records in theKroll Pharmacy Management System.
  • Assist withinventory management, including receiving, rotation, storage, and documentation of medications.
  • Ensure compliance withPHIPA, pharmacy regulations, and internal SOPs.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, audits, and corrective actions as required.
Reimbursement & Patient Support
  • Communicate with patients, prescribers, clinics, and healthcare professionals to support patients throughout their treatment journey.
  • Verify and investigate insurance coverage, including eligibility, co‑payments, deductibles, and prior authorizations.
  • Liaise withpublic and private insurers to determine coverage options and resolve reimbursement issues.
  • Support Patient Support Programs (PSPs) and biologic/specialty medication access.
  • Provide patient education in accordance with approved protocols, as assigned.
  • Stay current with changes in reimbursement policies and payer requirements and elevate issues as needed.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) is required.
  • Diploma inPharmacy Technicianor a related healthcare field is required.
  • Minimumtwo (2) years of experiencein pharmacy operations, including dispensing support, documentation, and inventory management.
  • Minimumtwo (2) years of reimbursement navigation experienceinvolving public and/or private payers is preferred.
  • Hands‑on experience with theKroll Pharmacy Management Systemis required.
  • Knowledge of special authorization processes, patient support programs, and reimbursement for specialty/biologic medications is an asset.
  • Strong understanding ofPHIPA, pharmacy regulations, and professional practice standards.
  • Strong organizational, time‑management, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and comfort working in a paperless environment.
  • High level of professional integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to patient‑centred care.
