Job summary

Northern Health is seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to join the Fort St. John Hospital and Health Centre team as an OR/P.A.R. nurse. You will deliver compassionate peri-operative care under the Operating room Head Nurse, assess needs, plan and document care, and may provide direction to the team.

Monday to Friday, Days 07:00 to 15:00 with on-call responsibilities. Requires BC RN registration, CPR, IV Therapy and PAR certifications, and typically 1 year OR/POST-ANESTHETIC experience.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with BC College of Nurses and Midwives in good standing.
  • CPR, IV Therapy and P.A.R. discharge certificates mandatory.
  • One year recent operating room/post-anesthetic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide peri-operative nursing care per standards/policies.
  • Assess needs, plan, implement, evaluate and document care.
  • Provide work direction to nursing and non-nursing staff as required.
  • Maintain on-call responsibilities as part of duties.

Job description

Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Fort St. John Hospital and Health Centre.

Under the direction of the Operating room Head Nurse, the OR/P.A.R. nurse provides direct nursing care to the peri-operative patient according to established standards/policies and provides work direction to nursing and non-nursing staff as required. The OR/P.A.R. nurse assesses the physical and psychological needs; plans, implements, evaluating and documents the nursing care for the patient during the peri-operative process, and the immediate post-operative period. Nursing responsibilities include scheduled on call responsibilities.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work:

Monday to Friday, Days - 07:00 to 15:00

Qualfications
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Current C.P.R., I.V. Therapy and Discharge from P.A.R. Certificates mandatory.
  • One year recent experience in the Operating Room/Post-Anesthetic Room.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment such as blood pressure and oxygen saturation monitor, hydrotherapy blanket, operative instruments, endoscopes and scope washer.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of specialized procedures and techniques such as scrub, circulating and Post-Anesthetic and Endoscope Room nursing care.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of aseptic technique.
