The orthopaedic oncology population consists of patients diagnosed with a rare type of cancer called sarcoma. This is the largest multi-disciplinary program of its type in Canada. This program is unique because patients are able to receive all of their cancer care needs on one unit - from diagnosis, staging, to treatment, to cure or palliative care when required. Six beds are allocated to the inpatient administration of chemotherapy to our sarcoma population. Patients are cared for by expert oncology nurses and the allied healthcare team throughout the trajectory of their hospitalization.
