Registered Nurse, Medical Services & Housing
RN/OT - (OPSEU)
Full-Time, Permanent (Benefitted)

We believe that recovery from mental health and addictions is unique to each individual.

As a Registered Nurse, you will collaborate with clients and provide guidance to clinical and multidisciplinary teams to assess and advocate for the supports needed to achieve physical and mental wellness. Our Nursing Team works with community and hospital partners to deliver excellent collaborative care, emphasizing social determinants of health. This role involves administering psychotropic injections, health teaching, medication reconciliation, coordinating appointments, and providing diabetes care and lifestyle supports to help clients meet their recovery goals.

Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last six months. Applicants residing in London are encouraged to apply promptly, as PVSC processing takes approximately two weeks, and employment offers cannot be made without proof of clearance.

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • Salary: Starting at $32.13/hour (Level 1 of the RN/OT Grid). External applicants start at Level 1 with progression up to Level 8 at $41.41/hour. Internal applicants are placed on the grid based on seniority.
  • Work Schedule: Predominantly Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, with attendance at team meetings and education sessions as scheduled.
  • Benefits: Extended healthcare benefits after 90 days; enrolled in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP).


HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

  • Conduct physical and psychiatric assessments; refer clients to community physicians and resources.
  • Assess medication effectiveness, side effects, and complications.
  • Administer depot injections in the community.
  • Help clients make informed health decisions regarding medications, immunizations, palliative care, birth control, and disease management.
  • Contribute to health promotion groups.
  • Maintain quality of care by adhering to professional standards and organizational policies.
  • Document and communicate care actions and needs to ensure continuity.
  • Identify high-risk clients and assess the need for crisis intervention, prioritizing safety.
  • Respond calmly and efficiently in emergencies, respecting client privacy and dignity.
  • Apply harm reduction principles to mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with clients and support teams to develop holistic care plans.
  • Provide culturally sensitive support, respecting diversity in all forms.
  • Use therapeutic modalities to support behavior change and coping skills.

REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:

Police Vulnerable Sector Check:

Must have a PVSC completed within the last six months. London residents are encouraged to apply early due to processing times (~2 weeks). No employment offers without PVSC proof.


Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate Degree or Diploma in Nursing (original credentials required during hiring)
  • Current registration with Ontario College of Nurses as a Registered Nurse
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written
  • Computer literacy
  • Valid driver’s license, vehicle, and adequate insurance for client transport
  • Ability to attend work regularly

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current CPR certification
  • Bilingual in both official languages of Canada (French and English) is preferred.
