Job summary

The Ottawa Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario is seeking a Registered Nurse for a temporary position until October 13, 2027. Shifts include days and nights, with 12-hour rotations, requiring flexibility and teamwork.

Applicants must hold College of Nurses of Ontario registration, be fluent in English and French at an advanced level, and bring recent cardiac care or medical/surgical experience, including telemetry and ECG interpretation.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in cardiac/medical–surgical units.

• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to plan care.

Basic Requirements

• Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
• Ability to perform BCLS to the College of Nurses Standards;
• Demonstrates knowledge of the nursing process and the ability to apply this knowledge in the clinical setting;
• Recent cardiac care or medical/surgical experience;
• Demonstrated experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and arrhythmia interpretation;
• Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of the care of the general patient in the unit and the ability to plan this knowledge in a clinical setting;
• Demonstrates a commitment to continuing education and a willingness to actively participate in departmental education activities;
• Demonstrates the ability to assess the patients learning needs and ability to plan appropriate teaching;
• Demonstrates a respectful attitude to patients, the public and colleagues;
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in an oral and written format with patients, public, colleagues and other health professional;
• Ability to work autonomously and within the multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment;
• Demonstrates an understanding and a willingness to participate in self-evaluation;
• Must be eligible to work in Canada;
• Proficiency in English and French oral expression (level 4 - advanced) and comprehension (level 4 - advanced).

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent acute medical surgical experience;
• Current consolidation experience in cardiovascular care;
• Experience with cardiac monitoring / arrhythmia interpretation;
• Recent course in coronary care, critical care or UOHI Cardiac Nursing Series;
• Experience reading and interpreting 12 lead ECG;
• Member of RNAO;
• Member of CCCN.
