Position Overview

The Ottawa Hospital (TOH), one of Canada's largest research and teaching hospitals, is seeking registered nurses for its Emergency Department training program. This role offers specialized training in emergency nursing, caring for both critical and non-critical patients in a fast-paced environment.

Position Details

This opportunity is suitable for nurses without prior emergency experience. An orientation program will be provided, and a two-year commitment is required. The initial 3 months involve full-time hours to complete the Novice Nurse Program.

Shifts and Rotation

Days and nights, including weekends, 12-hour shifts.

Minimum Requirements
  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • At least 6 months of recent medical/surgical experience
  • ACLS certification in progress or completed; or completion of a critical care/emergency nursing course
  • Commitment to continuing education and departmental activities
  • Knowledge and application of the nursing process
  • Patient teaching commitment
  • Effective team collaboration skills
  • Professional attitude towards patients, public, and colleagues
  • Eligibility to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of recent medical/surgical experience
  • Post-graduate studies
  • Proficiency in English and French (advanced level)
