Job summary

Covenant Health Canada is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for Misericordia Community Hospital in Edmonton. The role supports emergency/urgent care, with a 0.70 FTE schedule across days, nights, and weekends within a UNA collective agreement framework.

You will perform nursing assessments, plan care, administer medications, document progress, and educate patients and families in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required.
• Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required.
• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.

Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient/resident response. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient/resident, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN facilitates patient/resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity. The RN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. Required Qualifications:

Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent Emergency Department experience within the past two (2) years OR ICU/CCU experience within the past two (2) years OR A minimum of three (3) years’ experience (approx. 6000 hours) in Medical, Surgical, or Labor and Delivery units within the past five (5) years. Excellent assessment, organization and documentation skills required. Strong interpersonal communication, stress management and conflict management skills. Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to identify own learning needs, seek guidance in professional practice when deficits occur and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.In this position, you will be on your feet for an extended period of time (both walking and standing), and you must be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning patients. You will also be required to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Urban Emergency Department experience. ED charge nurse experience preferred. Triage experience preferred. One (1) or more of the following active certifications: ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, PALS, ENA Emergency Certificate, NRP, ITLS. ACCN completion. ENPEP completion. Experience and ability to work with cardiac monitors preferred. Dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation of ECG’s preferred.
