Job summary

The Ottawa Hospital invites applications for a Dietitian role within its multidisciplinary health team. The position requires a B.Sc. in Nutrition or related field, completion of a Dietetic Internship, and active registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.

Strong nutrition knowledge and leadership abilities are essential for mentoring staff and coordinating patient education. Candidates should have experience with medical terminology and be eligible to work in Canada.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate of Science or Nutrition related discipline from a recognized university.
• Completion of post graduate Dietetic Internship or integrated training recognized by Dietitians of Canada.
• Member of the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
• Advanced knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong knowledge of therapeutic nutrition and education techniques.
• Ability to supervise/lead/coach/mentor.
• Experience with word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Rotation/Shifts

Days, weekends, 4 and 8 hour shifts.

Basic Requirements

• Baccalaureate of Science or Nutrition related discipline from a University of recognized standing;
• Completed post graduate Dietetic Internship or integrated training recognized by Dietitians of Canada;
• Member of the College of Dietitians of Ontario;
• Advanced knowledge of medical terminology;
• Excellent knowledge of therapeutic nutrition and education techniques;
• Ability to supervise/lead/coach/mentor;
• Experience working with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Sound judgement and problem solving skills;
• Ability to work cooperatively in a multi-disciplinary/inter-professional setting;
• Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

• Member of Dietitians of Canada;
• Experience with multidisciplinary team approach, and education of health team members;
• Demonstrated experience with nutrition support (enteral and parenteral nutrition);
• Experience conducting subjective global assessments;
• Experience counselling patients;
• Proficiency in English and French oral expression (level 4 - advanced) and comprehension (level 4 - advanced). The Ottawa Hospital uses a 5-level language proficiency scale to define the required level of language skills in English and in French for positions at the Hospital, and to evaluate job candidate language skills.
