Job summary

The Ottawa Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a temporary position until March 31, 2027. Shifts are 8 hours daily in a cardiovascular care setting, with a focus on evidence-based practice and patient education.

Candidates must hold an Ontario nursing license and have strong bilingual communication skills in English and French. Eligible to work in Canada, with experience in community health/outpatient and multidisciplinary team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Current certification with the Ontario College of Nurses.
• Two (2) years recent cardiovascular nursing experience.
• Experience in counselling and behaviour change.
• Recent experience in community health and/or outpatient setting.
• Experience with and thorough knowledge of evidence based practice and quality project initiatives.
• Previous patient teaching experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of secondary prevention, risk factor reduction/behaviour change strategies.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated presentation skills.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Eligible to work in Canada.
• Proficiency in English and French oral expression (level 4 - advanced) and comprehension (level 4 - advanced).

Basic Requirements

• Proficiency in English and French oral expression (level 4 - advanced) and comprehension (level 4 - advanced).

The Ottawa Hospital uses a 5-level language proficiency scale to define the required level of language skills in English and in French for positions at the Hospital, and to evaluate job candidate language skills. Language proficiency requirements are based on the nature of the position and the level of interaction with French and English speaking clients.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing;
• Previous experience working in cardiac rehabilitation;
• Previous program development and planning experience;
• Previous report writing experience.
