Job summary

Comfort Keepers Victoria is hiring a Registered Care Aide to join our team in the Sooke area. Shifts range from 3 to 12 hours and you will deliver in-home care under a health-care team’s guidance.

You will assist with ADLs/IADLs, provide companionship, and help maintain a clean, safe environment. A Health Care Assistant program and BC Registry number are required, with driving and CPR/First Aid preferred.

Qualifications

• Successful graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience with BC Registry Number.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and proficiently both verbally and in writing.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in the delivery of client care and home support services under the direction of the health care team.
• Assist clients with care, observe, and report significant changes in the client’s presentation.
• Collaborate with the health care team, clients, and their caregivers to maximize independence with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs).
• Assist clients with Bathing, showering, dressing, mobility, feeding, toileting.
• Assist with household activities including meal prep, shopping for groceries laundry etc.
• Motivate, encourage, and involve clients in their care.
• Provide input and feedback in the care planning process to the health care team.
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for clients and staff.
• Driving client in their vehicle to appointments and outings.

Job Requirements:

• Successful graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience with BC Registry Number
• Have or be able to get a criminal record check
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and proficiently both verbally and in writing
• Ability to deal with others effectively and respectfully
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
• Ability to organize workAbility to operate related equipment
• Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle is a must!
• First Aid/CPR certificate
