Job summary

Comfort Keepers Victoria is seeking a Registered Care Aide to support seniors in the Sidney area. You will participate in delivering home care services under the health care team and help clients with daily activities, meals, and mobility.

The role requires completion of a Health Care Assistant program or equivalent with BC Registry status, plus CPR/First Aid, driver’s license, and a reliable vehicle. Birthplace and travel to nearby communities may be needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or equivalent with BC Registry Number.
• Criminal record check (current or obtainable).
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to organize workload and work with others respectfully.
• Physical capability to perform caregiving duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of client care and home support under health care team.
• Observe and report significant changes in client condition.
• Support independence in ADLs and IADLs with clients.
• Assist with bathing, dressing, mobility, feeding, toileting.
• Help with meal prep, shopping, laundry and other household tasks.
• Encourage and motivate clients, involve them in care.
• Provide input in care planning with health care team.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment for clients and staff.
• Drive clients to appointments and outings.

Job description

Are you a strong team player and have a desire to help others? We are looking for a Registered Care Aide to join our team to work in the Sidney area. We have shifts in the12-hour range available.

As a Caregiver you will make a difference in your clients lives by:

• Assisting in the delivery of client care and home support services under the direction of the health care team
• Assist clients with care, observe, and report significant changes in the client's presentation
• Collaborate with the health care team, clients, and their caregivers to maximize independence with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs)
• Assist clients with Bathing, showering, dressing, mobility, feeding, toileting
• Assist with household activities including meal prep, shopping for groceries laundry etc
• Motivate, encourage, and involve clients in their care
• Provide input and feedback in the care planning process to the health care team
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for clients and staff
• Driving client in their vehicle to appointments and outings

Job Requirements:

• Successful graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience with BC Registry Number
• Have or be able to get a criminal record check
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and proficiently both verbally and in writing
• Ability to deal with others effectively and respectfully
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
• Ability to organize work
• Ability to operate related equipment
• Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle is a must!
• First Aid/CPR certificate
