Job summary

Comfort Keepers Victoria is seeking a Registered Care Aide to join our team serving the Greater Victoria area. Shifts range from 3 to 12 hours, with flexible hours and 24/7 service coverage.

The role involves assisting clients with ADLs/IADLs, collaborating with the health-care team, and maintaining a safe, clean living environment. Training is provided, and a driver’s license is a bonus.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or equivalent with BC Registry Number.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Ability to work well with clients, families, and health-care teams.
• Physical ability to perform caregiving tasks and mobility support.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are a bonus.

Responsibilities

Job description

Are you a strong team player and have a desire to help others? We are looking for a Registered Care Aide to join our team to work in the Victoria area. We have shifts in the 3 to 12-hour range available.

As a Caregiver you will make a difference in your clients lives by:

• Assisting in the delivery of client care and home support services under the direction of the health care team
• Assist clients with care, observe, and report significant changes in the client’s presentation
• Collaborate with the health care team, clients, and their caregivers to maximize independence with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs)
• Assist clients with Bathing, showering, dressing, mobility, feeding, toileting
• Assist with household activities including meal prep, shopping for groceries laundry etc
• Motivate, encourage, and involve clients in their care
• Provide input and feedback in the care planning process to the health care team
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for clients and staff
• Driving client in their vehicle to appointments and outings

Job Requirements:

• Successful graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience with BC Registry Number
• Have or be able to get a criminal record check
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and proficiently both verbally and in writing
• Ability to deal with others effectively and respectfully
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
• Ability to organize work
• Ability to operate related equipment
• Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle is a bonus!
• First Aid/CPR certificate

Our office serves seniors across the island and surrounding communities, including Sidney, Saanich, Oak Bay, Fairfield, James Bay, Esquimalt & Westshore. This position may require travel to those areas – we do our best to match you with clients in your area.
