Job summary

Comfort Keepers in the Sooke area is seeking a Registered Care Aide to join our team and provide in-home care services to clients in their communities.

You will assist clients with ADLs/IADLs, mobility, meal preparation, transportation, and companionship, while collaborating with the health care team to promote independence and quality of life.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and proficiently both verbally and in writing.
• Health Care Assistant program or equivalent required; BC Registry Number preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering client care and home support under the health care team.
• Observe and report significant changes in clients’ presentation.
• Collaborate with health care team, clients and caregivers to maximize independence in ADLs/IADLs.
• Assist with bathing, dressing, mobility, feeding and toileting.
• Support with meal prep, groceries, laundry and other household tasks.
• Provide companionship and maintain client dignity and respect.
• Contribute to care planning with input and feedback to the health care team.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment; drive clients to appointments as needed.

Are you a strong team player and have a desire to help others? We are looking for a Registered Care Aide to join our team to work in the Sooke area.

As a Caregiver you will make a difference in your clients lives by:

• Assisting in the delivery of client care and home support services under the direction of the health care team.
• Assist clients with care, observe, and report significant changes in the client’s presentation.
• Collaborate with the health care team, clients, and their caregivers to maximize independence with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs).
• Assist clients with Bathing, showering, dressing, mobility, feeding, toileting
• Assist with household activities including meal prep, shopping for groceries laundry etc.
• Motivate, encourage, and involve clients in their care.
• Provide input and feedback in the care planning process to the health care team.
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for clients and staff.
• Driving client in their vehicle to appointments and outings

Job Requirements:

• Successful graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience with BC Registry Number.
• Have or be able to get a criminal record check
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and proficiently both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively and respectfully.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment
• Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle is a must!
• First Aid/CPR certificate

Our office serves seniors across the island and surrounding communities, including Sidney, Saanich, Oak Bay, Fairfield, James Bay, Esquimalt, Westshore and Sooke. This position may require travel to those areas – we do our best to match you with clients in your area.
