Job summary

Comfort Keepers Victoria is seeking a Registered Care Aide to join our Victoria-area team. You will provide home care and support to clients under the health care team, helping with daily living activities and ensuring safety.

We value compassionate, reliable team players who communicate well and can adapt to changing client needs. A Health Care Assistant program completion and BC Registry Number are preferred, with driving a bonus.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant program or equivalent with BC Registry Number.
• Criminal record check capable to obtain.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact with others respectfully and effectively.
• Physically able to perform duties.
• Ability to organize work and manage tasks.
• Ability to operate related care equipment.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle is a bonus.
• First Aid/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of client care and home support under the health care team.
• Observe and report significant changes in the client’s presentation.
• Collaborate with the health care team, clients, and caregivers to maximize independence with ADLs and IADLs.
• Assist with bathing, showering, dressing, mobility, feeding, toileting.
• Assist with household tasks including meal prep, groceries, laundry, etc.
• Motivate, encourage and involve clients in their care.
• Provide input in care planning and maintain a safe environment for clients and staff.
• Drive clients in their vehicle to appointments and outings.

Are you a strong team player and have a desire to help others? We are looking for a Registered Care Aide to join our team to work in the Victoria area.

As a Caregiver you will make a difference in your clients lives by:

• Assisting in the delivery of client care and home support services under the direction of the health care team
• Assist clients with care, observe, and report significant changes in the client’s presentation
• Collaborate with the health care team, clients, and their caregivers to maximize independence with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs)
• Assist clients with Bathing, showering, dressing, mobility, feeding, toileting
• Assist with household activities including meal prep, shopping for groceries laundry etc
• Motivate, encourage, and involve clients in their care
• Provide input and feedback in the care planning process to the health care team
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for clients and staff
• Driving client in their vehicle to appointments and outings

Job Requirements:

• Successful graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience with BC Registry Number
• Have or be able to get a criminal record check
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and proficiently both verbally and in writing
• Ability to deal with others effectively and respectfully
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
• Ability to organize work
• Ability to operate related equipment
• Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle is a bonus!

Our office serves seniors across the island and surrounding communities, including Sidney, Saanich, Oak Bay, Fairfield, James Bay, Esquimalt & Westshore. This position may require travel to those areas – we do our best to match you with clients in your area.
