Job summary

Comfort Keepers Victoria is hiring a Registered Care Aide to support clients in the Victoria area. You will work with a health care team to deliver home care and support daily living activities.

The role involves assisting with bathing, mobility, meals, errands, and transportation, while observing changes and reporting to the team. A valid BC care program graduation or equivalent and a BC Registry Number are required, along with a driver's license and reliable vehicle.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or equivalent with BC Registry Number.
• Criminal record check.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle; ability to commute.
• Physical ability and ability to organize work; operate related equipment.
• Available mornings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of client care and home support under the health care team.

• Collaborate with the health care team, clients, and caregivers to maximize independence in ADLs/IADLs.

As a Caregiver you will make a difference in your clients lives by:

• Assisting in the delivery of client care and home support services under the direction of the health care team
• Assist clients with care, observe, and report significant changes in the client’s presentation
• Collaborate with the health care team, clients, and their caregivers to maximize independence with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs)
• Assist clients with Bathing, showering, dressing, mobility, feeding, toileting
• Assist with household activities including meal prep, shopping for groceries laundry etc
• Motivate, encourage, and involve clients in their care
• Provide input and feedback in the care planning process to the health care team
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for clients and staff
• Driving client in their vehicle to appointments and outings

Job Requirements:

• Successful graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience with BC Registry Number
• Have or be able to get a criminal record check
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and proficiently both verbally and in writing
• Ability to deal with others effectively and respectfully
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
• Ability to organize work
• Ability to operate related equipment
• Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle, willing to commute is a must!
• First Aid/CPR certificate
• Available morning and weekend time is a must!

Our office serves seniors across the island and surrounding communities, including Sidney, Saanich, Oak Bay, Fairfield, James Bay, Esquimalt & Westshore. This position may require travel to those areas – we do our best to match you with clients in your area.
