Job summary

Raise Workforce in Clyde River, NU, seeks a Journeyperson Carpenter to construct, repair, restore and work with wood in a hotel environment. Red Seal certified with 4+ years of carpentry in commercial settings is required.

Contract runs until Oct 31 with ASAP start, 10-hour shifts, 6 days a week, room and board provided, and flights from Yellowknife or Edmonton. You will read blueprints, interpret drawings, operate woodworking machinery, and uphold safety standards.

Qualifications

  • 4 years or more of carpentry work in a commercial/light industrial setting.
  • Red Seal Journeyperson Certified Carpenter.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications and work from sketches.
  • Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials, and tools of the carpentry trade.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
  • Ability to plan, lay out, and perform carpentry work of average difficulty.
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the carpentry trade.
  • Skills in the construction, repair, restoration, and installation of wood or related materials.
  • Ability to estimate time and materials needed for assigned work projects.
  • Lead by example in promoting a respectful and professional work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain doors, floors, windows, partitions, ceilings, and exteriors of buildings; builds and installs door and window framing
  • Perform hand and bench work in carpentry workshop; operate planers, joiners, drill presses, power saws, sanders, and other woodworking machinery
  • Repair and maintain hand tools, saws, and other carpentry tools; installs locks, door knobs, and other building hardware
  • Repair and maintain doors, floors, windows, partitions, ceilings, and exteriors of buildings; build and install door and window framing
  • Other duties as assigned

Raise Workforce has partnered with the leading provider of workforce camp and hospitality services, operations and maintenance services. They are seeking a Journeyperson Carpenter that will be responsible for constructing, repairs, restores, and wood work and related materials within a hotel environment.

What You Will Be Doing...
  • Repair and maintain doors, floors, windows, partitions, ceilings, and exteriors of buildings; builds and installs door and window framing
  • Perform hand and bench work in carpentry work shop; operate planers, joiners, drill presses, power saws, sanders, and other woodworking machinery
  • Repair and maintain hand tools, saws, and other carpentry tools; installs locks, door knobs, and other building hardware
  • Repair and maintain doors, floors, windows, partitions, ceilings, and exteriors of buildings; build and install door and window framing
  • Other duties as assigned
