Job description

Location: Meadow Lake, SK S9X 1T8

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

• Construct, renovate, and repair residential homes and community buildings.
• Perform framing, drywall, flooring, roofing, siding, finishing carpentry, and cabinetry work.
• Install windows, doors, trim, and other building components.
• Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on community housing and facilities.
• Respond to maintenance requests and emergency repairs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable building codes and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and materials used.
• Assist with project planning, estimating, and procurement of materials.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized manner.
• Mentor apprentices and labourers as required.

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

• Valid Red Seal Journeyperson Carpenter Certification.
• Minimum three (3) years of carpentry experience.
• Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Knowledge of residential and commercial construction methods.
• Knowledge of Saskatchewan building codes and safety regulations.
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a First Nation or Indigenous community.
• WHMIS Certification.
• Standard First Aid/CPR Certification.
• Experience with project estimating and construction management.
• Experience in housing maintenance and renovation programs.
