Strait Regional Centre for Education is hiring a Building Operator to manage and maintain school facilities in the Antigonish region.

responsibilities include supervising janitorial staff, conducting preventive maintenance, inspecting facilities, and coordinating events while ensuring safety and compliance with SRCE policies. CPR/First Aid and WHMIS are required or pursued, with an emphasis on energy management and building systems expertise.

Formación

• Red Seal journeyperson certification or equivalent is required.
• Five years of preventive maintenance, operation and repair of building systems (heating/ventilation, heat pumps, AC).
• Experience with building environmental systems and operator procedures is required.
• Equivalency path includes SRCE-approved courses and practicum; custodial experience within SRCE is a plus.
• Current WHMIS and CPR & First Aid certifications or willingness to obtain them.

Responsabilidades

• Ensure safe and proper building operation and environment per SRCE standards.
• Oversee janitorial staff to ensure duties are performed.
• Implement and monitor preventive maintenance program.
• Inspect school facilities and grounds and coordinate repairs.
• Manage materials, tools, equipment, and custodial supplies.
• Keep records of maintenance, work orders, and inventories.
• Coordinate space for school events and rentals.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies as required.
• Follow SRCE health, safety, and evacuation policies.
