RECRUITMENT & EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST

(FULL TIME, TEMPORARY)

School District No. 42 serves over 17,000 students in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. Reporting to the Manager, Employment Services, the Recruitment and Employment Specialist supports the talent acquisition process, including coordinating recruitment, conducting interviews, and onboarding new employees.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead and participate in recruitment and selection, including prescreening, testing, interviewing, reference and criminal record checks, and making hiring recommendations.
  2. Engage in recruitment activities such as career fairs, liaising with employment agencies, schools, and universities, and exploring advertising platforms for specialized roles. Coordinate practicum placements and orientation sessions.
  3. Manage applicant tracking systems, ensuring all required documents are collected.
  4. Build and maintain relationships with candidates.
  5. Develop and present recruitment metrics and prepare reports for management.
  6. Create and post external job advertisements on various platforms.
  7. Advise Dispatch Coordinators on technical matters and workflow processes.
  8. Coordinate and deliver orientation sessions for new hires and support onboarding.
  9. Monitor staffing levels in collaboration with relevant managers to address staffing needs.
  10. Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  1. Completion of a two-year post-secondary program in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Three to five years of HR experience in a unionized environment.
  3. CHRP designation is an asset.
  4. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  5. Organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  6. Conflict resolution and teamwork skills.
  7. Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, and HRIS systems such as Atrieve ERP.
