Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Labour Relations, the Craft Recruiter is responsible for providing transactional recruitment support for trades positions and will assist withbuilding and fostering a positive labour relations environment between our Project Teams and trade union partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand their recruitment needs and provide guidance on the screening process
  • Post job requisitions internally and externally, and source candidates through the appropriate media – professional organizations, career fairs/educational institutions, cold calling, and other websites/social media forums
  • Screen resumes and interview candidates to determine qualifications
  • Assist with the creation of onboarding documentation (offer letters, agreements, etc.)
  • Develop collaborative relationships with the business leaders, hiring managers, site admins and stakeholders to foster effective relationships
  • Support creation and maintenance of Job Descriptions as required.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of construction industry trends and best practices for recruitment
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is an asset
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in full cycle recruitment in a high volume environment required. Preference would be given to those with construction, heavy civil, oil and gas, mining or similar experience.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and trade unionsis required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build superior working relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of provincial employment laws, best practices and legal framework
  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills is essential
  • Strategic thinking and excellent organizational skills, including the ability to multi task and to function independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with HRIS systems
  • Advanced computer skills MS Office including Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook and grievance or document management systems
  • Valid Drivers License require for frequent travel for meetings and conferences
  • Ability to travel to Project Sites is an asset
