Job summary

Schlegel Villages is seeking a Recreation Team Member to join Riverside Glen in Ontario. This part-time, on-site role focuses on resident-centered programming and fostering a caring community.

You will plan and implement programs, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and support residents’ well-being through meaningful activities. A diploma or degree in recreation/leisure studies or gerontology is expected, with a passion for elder care.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled in/completed diploma or degree recreation/leisure studies and/or gerontology from a community college or university.
• Display a caring and respectful attitude toward residents, families, and team members.
• Support and embrace resident-centered social culture.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Foster relationships with residents and families to enhance holistic care and quality of life.
• Plan and implement engaging programs for residents.

The hiring rate for this role is $23.26 per collective agreement/employee association agreement.

To be successful as our new Recreation Team Member, you will:

• Knowledge of the five domains in Therapeutic Recreation that contribute to an individual’s health


• Knowledge of recreational therapy practices, methods, techniques and opportunities to improve resident’s well-being and holistic health


• An understanding of the relevant sections of the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007
