Job summary

Schlegel Villages in Whitby is seeking a Temporary Part Time Recreation Team Member to support residents through engaging activities and wellness programs.

Working 26 hours bi-weekly with a rotating four-day-two-week schedule, including every other weekend, you will join a caring multidisciplinary team focused on quality of life and person-centered care.

A diploma or degree in recreation/leisure studies or gerontology is preferred and you will contribute to a supportive village culture.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled in/completed diploma or degree recreation/leisure studies and/or gerontology.
• Display a caring and respectful attitude toward residents, families, and team members.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and foster relationships to deliver quality of life.

Description

The Village of Taunton Mills has an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Part Time Recreation team member to join their team on Dunlop neighborhood.

Working 26 hours bi-weekly, four days in two weeks rotating schedule, including every other weekend.

Working Hours: 09:00 - 16:00

The hiring rate for this role is $ 23.26 per collective agreement/employee association agreement.

• Be enrolled in/completed diploma or degree recreation/leisure studies and/or gerontology from a community college or university
• Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members

• Foster exemplary relationships with residents, their families and the Village team to deliver holistic care that focusses on flexible living and quality of life
• Plan and implement programs

It would be an asset if our new Recreation Team Member has:

• Knowledge of the five domains in Therapeutic Recreation that contribute to an individual’s health
• Knowledge of recreational therapy practices, methods, techniques and opportunities to improve resident’s well-being and holistic health
• An understanding of the relevant sections of the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007
