Job summary

Golden Life in Invermere, BC is hiring a Recreation/Rehabilitation Aide for a temporary full-time role. The position supports residents through planned activities and therapeutic exercises, working within a skilled care team.

The ideal candidate holds a PTA/Kinesiology credential with a Rehabilitation Certificate, CPR, and a valid driver’s license. Prior senior care experience is preferred, and a clear criminal record is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program or Kinesiology diploma.
• Recreation/Rehabilitation Certificate is required.
• Minimum 6 months related experience; 2+ years in seniors’ care is an asset.
• Current CPR; First Aid may be required.
• Valid Class 4 Driver’s License.
• Able to meet physical demands (lifting, bending, carrying).
• Clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
• Negative TB screening and complete immunization record as required by BCCDC.

Responsibilities

• Implements resident activities aligned with residents' needs, abilities, and care plans.
• Participates as a program team member and reports on participation and enjoyment.
• Facilitates and supports residents to partake in various activities and programs.
• Performs delegated duties to improve or maintain functional abilities.
• Conducts therapeutic activities including ambulation, mobility training, exercises.
• Assists therapists during treatments or assessments as directed.
• Reports progress observations to the care team.
• Maintains records using computer software and equipment.

Shift Times: 8:30 – 16:30 (8 hour shifts)

We’re seeking dedicated Recreation/Rehabilitation Aides who bring creativity, empathy, and a commitment to enhancing residents’ well-being through engaging programs and person-centered support.

What You'll Do

• Implements resident activities related to the needs, abilities, interests and choices of residents within the specified program area and as may be identified on the care plan.
• Participates as a member of the program team, reports on resident participation, achievements and level of perceived enjoyment.
• Facilitates, encourages and supports residents to participate in a variety of activities and programs.
• Performs delegated duties such as implementing individual and group interventions and activities that improve or maintain functional abilities of patients.
• Conducts individual and group therapeutic activities, such as therapeutic ambulation, wheelchair mobility training (manual and power), exercise classes, and individual prescribed exercises, to restore, improve, and maintain a patient’s functional ability.
• As instructed, assists therapist during direct treatment or during assessment sessions.
• Reports observations on patient progress and condition to DOCC and other appropriate team members.
• Maintains records such as statistics, and inventories, and performs related duties by utilizing a personal computer, word processing software tools, and related equipment.

What You Bring

• Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistantprogram/Kinesiology diploma
• Recreation/Rehabilitation Certificate (required)

• Can provide a negative TB Screening test
• Negative TB test and complete immunization record as required by BCCDC.

• A competitive salary : The Rec Aide rate of $31.84 per hour and Rehab Aide $32.84 per hour, in accordance with provincial wage levelling.
