- The candidate will be responsible for providing one-on-one support to children, youth, and adults with a variety of abilities to participate in recreation programs and activities while assisting with the overall leadership of the program.
- The candidate will be responsible for preparing support tools, supplies, and other resources required for the supported participant during day-to-day program activities.
- The candidate will be responsible for completing documentation and report writing related to supported program participants while communicating regularly with program participant caregivers, relevant agencies, and supervisors.
- The candidate will be responsible for monitoring facilities and equipment for safety, security, and maintenance requirements, enforcing rules and regulations, and responding to incidents as required.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must have completed Grade 12, supplemented by courses related to the work, along with some related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- The candidate must have working knowledge of the fundamentals of program leadership and instruction for preschool and school-aged children, youth, and adults.
- The candidate must have working knowledge of the rules, regulations, procedures, and policies governing the work.
- The candidate must have working knowledge of modern office methods and procedures.
- The candidate must have the ability to participate in planning and implementing programs and activities while providing leadership and instruction.
- The candidate must have the ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts.
- The candidate must have the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with program participants, parents, and external agencies.
- The candidate must have the ability to assist in the leadership of volunteers and junior-level staff.
- The candidate must have skill in the operation of equipment used in the work.
- The candidate must possess a valid Standard/Intermediate First Aid and CPR/AED, Level C certification.
- The candidate must have completed 20 hours of Responsible Adult Training for working with children.
- The candidate will be required to hold a valid Food Safe Certificate.
- The candidate must have completed High Five Training - Principles of Healthy Child Development.
- The candidate must have completed MANDT Training or NVCI Training.
