Job summary

Covenant Living in Edmonton, Alberta, is seeking a Recreation Assistant to help plan, implement and evaluate recreation and leisure programs that meet the residents' physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and cultural needs.

You will work under the Recreational Therapist, collaborate with the healthcare team, and help promote resident participation while modelling Covenant's mission, values and compassionate care.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 4 driver's license or willingness to obtain within 3 months.
  • First Aid and CPR current.
  • 1–2 years of Therapeutic Recreation experience preferred.
  • Ability to maintain good working relations with staff, residents and outside agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, implementation and evaluation of recreation and leisure programs to meet residents' needs.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote resident awareness and participation.
  • Model Covenant's mission, vision, and values in daily practice.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Recreational Therapist the Recreation Assistant will assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of recreation and leisure programs to meet the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and cultural needs and interests of the residents. The Recreation Assistant works collaboratively with the healthcare team to promote resident awareness and participation in programs and opportunities and support recreation & leisure programming for the residents.

This position will:

  • Model the organizations' mission, vision, and values, consistently representing Covenant professionally and positively.
  • Collaborate effectively as a professional team player, supporting the achievement of Covenant’s mission, vision, and values.
Qualifications:
  • Possess a valid Class 4 driver's license is required or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire
  • Ability to maintain good working relations with staff, public and outside agencies
  • Flexibility with changes in the organization and maintain a positive outlook
  • Valid/current First Aid and CPR
  • One (1) to two (2) years of Therapeutic Recreation experience preferred
