Job summary

Taylor View Towers is a vibrant seniors’ living community in Red Deer. We are seeking a Recreation professional to deliver and evaluate recreational services under the Resident Care Plan, support daily living activities, and help residents stay engaged through meaningful programs.

The role includes documenting progress, coordinating with the Recreation Therapist Supervisor, and participating in Well-Being initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma or recognized equivalent is required.
  • Diploma in recreation with a specialization or a degree in recreation-related fields is required.
  • Experience in recreation programs and providing recreation therapist services.

Responsibilities

  • Provides and evaluates the delivery of recreational services based on the Resident Care Plan and Service Plan.
  • Supports the resident’s lifestyle in their community environment as authorized by the Care Plan.
  • Reports changes regarding the Care/Service Plan as it relates to recreation.
  • Assists residents in identifying leisure barriers and consults with the Recreation Therapist.
  • Assists with daily life tasks beyond recreation, such as meals and light housekeeping.
  • Maintains professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Participates in developing Well-Being Strategies and adheres to Health Services Contracts.
  • Monitors and reports inventory of recreational supplies and completes related documentation.
  • Performs other projects and assignments as required.

Key Responsibility Areas (% Range of Focus):
  • Providesand evaluates the delivery of recreational services based on the Resident CarePlan and Service Plan
ResidentSupport:
  • Supportsthe Resident’s lifestyle in their Community environment in accordance with theResident’s individualized Care Plan as authorized by Homecare.
  • Reportsnecessary changes regarding the Resident Care/Service Plan as per request ofthe Resident as it relates to recreational services.
  • Supportsthe residents in identifying personal leisure barriers and consults withRecreation Therapist in designing intervention
  • Assistswith daily life within the Community, as needed, in a variety of ways beyondrecreation-specific practices, such as serving meals, doing light housekeeping, removing trash, assisting Residents, and leading Learning Circles.
  • Maintainsprofessional boundaries & confidentiality to protect vulnerable residents.
Administrative:
  • Participatesin the development of Well-Being Strategies
  • Adheresto Health Services Contracts
  • Monitorsand reports inventory of recreational supplies
  • Addressunscheduled Housing/Service Plan needs as required based on Well-Being Strategies
  • Completingrecreation specific documentation & progress notes
Qualifications:
Relationships:
  • Reports to: Recreation Therapist Supervisor
  • Internal Contacts: Residents, Family Members,Employee Care Partners
  • External Contacts: Vendors
Trainingand Support:
  • Attendsand actively participates in various committees/meetings providing advice/input
  • Demonstratesdelegated services to care partners as per accepted practice standards
  • EducatesCare Partners (residents, families, employees) on the benefits of recreational services and assists them in practicing these skills
  • Abidesby the regulations as set out by their applicable Association
Projectsand Assignments:
  • Performsa variety of other projects and assignments as required
Education
  • Grade 12 Diploma or recognized equivalent is required
  • A diploma in recreation with a specialization in therapeutic recreation or aDegree in Recreation Therapy, Leisure Studies, or Recreation Administration isrequired
Experience
  • Experience in recreation programs and providingrecreation therapist services.
