Job summary

Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc. is seeking a Recovery Coach for the Stabilization Unit to support clients in withdrawal management and recovery pathways.

You will coordinate services for detox, treatment, and housing, while collaborating with nurses and health care aides to ensure safety and progress on recovery journeys. The role requires a background in addictions/mental health, relevant certifications, and the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays in a community-based

Qualifications

• Must have education in Addictions and Mental Health, or other related Health Sciences.
• Must have First Aid training or be willing to obtain certification within the 3 months of hiring.
• Must have Naloxone/Narcan training or be willing to obtain certification within the 3 months of hiring.
• Must have NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) Certification or be willing to obtain certification within the 3 months of hiring.
• Must complete MAP training as a regulated provider.
• Must be mature, pleasant, and exercise a high degree of initiative and judgment.
• Must be able to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Must be able to work evenings, as well as some weekends and holidays.
• Must have experience providing direct human services to clients who are economically disadvantaged, experiencing mental health challenges, and/or drug/alcohol dependence in a diverse environment.
• Must be familiar with community resources such as addiction, mental health, income assistance, and harm reduction.
• Must understand and maintain clientele/worker boundaries.
• Must understand issues surrounding homelessness, unemployment, mental health, drug and alcohol dependence and harm reduction.
• Must have demonstrated the ability to supervise, monitor, and support clients.
• Must be able to work independently or in a team setting.
• Must have a strong ability to manage stress and organize workload.
• Must have strong physical and mental ability to perform work tasks and operate job related equipment.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication, organizational skills, and the ability to maintain detailed and accurate records.

Job description

SUMMARY OF WORK:
The Stabilization Unit provides short term care for clients who require medical assistance with withdrawal management and supports to continued pathways on their recovery pathways, with staff working with each client to provide individualized care in regard to housing, mental health and addiction supports, health care, and education. Under the direction of the Stabilization Coordinator, the Recovery Coach works with clients in the Stabilization Unit that have addictions challenges. The Recovery Coach works with the clients to advocate, and co-ordinate required services for detox, treatment and recovery. The Recovery Coach works with a team of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides to ensure clients are safe and able to progress on their journey.
