What is the opportunity?

As a Reconciliation Specialist, you will ensure the effective design and preparation of reconciliations to support the integrity of the financial statements. You will operate in an efficient / effective team to ensure timely reconciliation preparation. Comparing different data sets, the role will work through an information life cycle to identify, investigate, escalate and support resolution of breaks and reconciliation issues. You will be collaborating with various stakeholders across the bank.

What will you do?

  1. Responsible for the preparation of reconciliations and attestations per prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while applying solid knowledge of the operations, its procedures and systems to the reconciliations process
  2. Ensure true breaks are identified, investigated / reported and items that represent a potential loss are escalated immediately
  3. Support all questions pertaining to in house reconciliations and support investigations for outages for outsourced reconciliations
  4. Use in-house and online tools to do first level investigation on outages in order to speed up resolution
  5. Display good judgment and decision-making skills in dealing with breaks and reporting
  6. Work with various stakeholders relating to various reconciliation functions
  7. Do peer reviews on other reconciliations prepared by the team
  8. Lead the charge on designing new reconciliations and amending existing reconciliations where needed
  9. Use new and existing tools to automate and recommend solutions for data ingestion, analytics and visualization to create efficiencies in the reconciliation preparation process to reduce lead time
  10. Create monthly and ad hoc statistic reporting
  11. Posting journal entries where necessary
  12. Demonstrate flexibility to assume ad hoc work outside of the general reconciliation process

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  1. Graduate or post-graduate or professional designations such as MBA, CA, CFA. This mandate will benefit from the analytical and financial reporting understanding and skills commonly associated with accounting designations
  2. 3+ years of experience with an accounting or similar role
  3. Willingness to collaborate and build strong relationships across business functions
  4. Advanced working knowledge of Excel / Microsoft Office suite of products
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to collaborate and build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders

Nice-to-have

  1. Data visualization experience (preference in Tableau and/or Power BI)
  2. Knowledge of Insurance products / operations, familiar with insurance accounting, together with willingness and interest to develop that knowledge
