Job summary

PLASP Child Care Services is seeking an Acting Program Director for the Before School & After School program at Georges Vanier Catholic Elementary School. The role requires RECE registration, 3+ years in child care, and strong supervision, planning and administrative skills to meet CCEYA and MEDU standards.

The successful candidate will lead staff, manage budgets, and ensure high-quality care on PA days and school days.

Qualifications

• A minimum 3 years’ experience in child care and community service organization (experience in supervision of staff preferred).
• Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE) is required.
• A valid Standard First Aid Certificate with level C CPR.
• A valid Criminal Reference Check – Vulnerable Sector.
• Knowledge of the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA) and Ministry of Education Licensing requirements.
• Ability to operate programs according to MEDU standards and ensure the CCEYA license is in good standing.

• Establishing and maintaining a safe, warm and caring environment for a high-quality extended day program.
• Planning and implementing stimulating age-appropriate activities for groups of children in line with HDLH and PLASP guidelines.
• Budgeting and ordering food, preparing nutritious meals and snacks according to Canada Food Guide.
• Supervising and training staff, volunteers and students on placement with leadership and performance appraisals.
• Handling program administration including registration, records, health and safety, and supplies.
• Ensuring compliance with MEDU standards and maintaining a good CCEYA license.
• Participating in P.A. Days to provide safe care on and off school premises.

ACTING PROGRAM DIRECTOR - BEFORE SCHOOL AND/ OR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

PLASP operates in more than 240 schools providing before school, lunch, and after school programs and 38full-day early learning and child care centres and sixEarlyON locations for children from 0 – 6 years.

The successful candidate will provide a full range of duties, including:

• Establishing and maintaining a safe, warm and caring environment in which a high-quality extended day program can operate
• Planning, developing, and implementing programs of stimulating age appropriate activities for groups of children. Activities will promote their physical, social, emotional and intellectual well-being, in accordance with the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA), How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH?) and the guidelines established by PLASP for all program components including P.A. Days
• Budgeting and ordering food for the program, preparing nutritious breakfast and snacks while adhering to the guidelines of the Canada Food Guide, and in accordance with the rotational snack planner
• Supervising and training staff, Volunteers and Students on Placement (if applicable), by providing strong leadership, decision making and problem-solving skills and conducting regular performance appraisals
• Responsible for all administration for the program, including registration, record-keeping, health and safety monitoring and ordering of supplies
• Operating programs according to the Ministry of Education (MEDU) standards and ensures the CCEYA license is in good standing
• Participating fully in P.A. Days, by providing safe, reliable care on and off school premises
• A minimum 3 years’ experience in child care and community service organization (experience in supervision of staff preferred)
• Knowledge of the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA) and Ministry of Education Licensing requirements
• An ECE degree/diploma and be registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
