Job summary

Nucor Rebar Fabrication in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada seeks an estimator to prepare timely quantities for reinforced bars, mesh, and related products for bidding projects. You will work with customers and branch teams to ensure accurate bids and timely communications.

The role requires three years of estimating experience in reinforcing/structural steel, knowledge of CRSI/ACI standards, and strong communication skills. Overtime and travel may be required to support bidding needs.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience as a reinforcing bar or structural steel detailer or equivalent estimating experience.
• Knowledge of concrete structures, CRSI/ACI standards.
• Ability to track plan revisions/bid updates against previous work.
• Strong communication and computer skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate conduct aligned with Nucor Rebar’s vision and values.
• Prepare timely estimates of quantities for bidding projects.
• Communicate with customers and branch teammates about estimating and bidding.
• Log and review drawings, addenda, and updates for accurate estimating and bid schedules.
• Collaborate with the placement department to ensure information and time for production numbers.
• Assist in obtaining quotes for rebar accessories, trucking, and other services for quotes.
• Collaborate with sales to develop complete rebar quotes for assigned accounts.
• Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.
