Job summary

Qualifications

• Three years of experience as a reinforcing bar or structural steel detailer or equivalent.
• Knowledge of concrete structures and CRSI/ACI standards.
• Ability to track plan revisions and bid updates.
• Must have good communication and computer skills.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to review bid plans to assess project scope and bidding strategy.
• Must meet critical deadlines and handle changing priorities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Two-year diploma in drafting or construction-related field (preferred).

Job description

PURPOSE: Prepare estimates of quantities of fabricated reinforcing bars, mesh, accessories and related prod-ucts required for projects on which Nucor Rebar Fabrication seeks to offer a bid so that contractor customers can receive timely proposals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. 1. Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor Rebar’s vision and values.
2. 2. Prepare timely estimates of the quantities of fabricated reinforcing bars, mesh, accessories, and related products required for bidding projects.
3. 3. Communicate effectively and professionally with customers and branch teammates regarding all as-pects of the estimating and bidding process.
4. 4. Ensure all necessary drawings, Addenda’s, and updates are logged and reviewed. Allowing for accurate estimating and keeping the commercial sales team informed of bid schedules changes.
5. 5. Collaborate closely with our placement department to ensure that all necessary information and suffi-cient time is provided to review potential work and assign production numbers.
6. 6. Assist in obtaining quotes for rebar accessories, trucking, hoisting, and other related services to develop a comprehensive quote
7. 7. Collaborate with the sales team to develop complete rebar quotes, ensuring bids are provided to as-signed customer accounts
8. 8. Perform other duties as required by the supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Three years of experience as a reinforcing bar or structural steel detailer or equivalent construction/field estimating experience
• Knowledge of concrete structures, CRSI/ACI standards
• Ability to track plan revisions/bid updates against previous work
• Must have good communication and computer skills
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to review bid plans to assist in the assessment of the project, project scope and bidding strategy
• Must be able to meet critical deadlines and handle changing priorities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

• Two-year technical or vocational diploma in drafting or a construction-related field

SPECIAL DEMANDS

• Overtime hours may be required.
