Job summary

Horizon Care and Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH and autism at Grove Road School in Sutton. You will assist in classrooms, support learning activities and adapt environments to individual needs, helping students engage and progress.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to work towards a recognised teaching assistant qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers and engage with students, maintaining a positive, non-disruptive classroom.

What you’ll get to do
  • Assisting students in their educational and social development.
  • Provide support inside and outside of the classroom, so they can fully engage in a wide range of activities.
  • Help to set up activities for students, using technology or adjusting the environment to suit their needs.
  • Support teachers, engaging with students, providing learning support, and reacting to situations in the classroom in a positive, non-disruptive manner.
  • Working 1:1 with some students, to give them the time and support they need to learn.
What we’re looking for from you
  • Experience of working with children who have behavioural support needs with a good knowledge of behavioural management techniques and strategies.
  • Grade C or above GCSE in English and Math, or L1/2 equivalent functional skills qualification.
  • Hold or be willing to work towards a recognised teaching assistant qualification.
  • Supportive management and senior leaders.
