Job summary

Swissport International is hiring Ramp Agents in the Vancouver area. You will marshal aircraft, unload baggage and cargo, and operate a range of ground support equipment in a dynamic airport environment.

The role requires flexibility to work various shifts, good English communication, and the ability to lift heavy objects. Being able to work in Canada with an open work permit is essential. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• Previous ramp experience is a plus.
• Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds (32 kilograms).
• Eligible to work in Canada with a valid open work permit.

Responsibilities

• Marshall aircraft during arrival and departure.
• Unload luggage and cargo onto carts and dollies.
• Handle wheelchairs and strollers to designated locations.
• Deliver luggage to claim area and conveyor system.
• Operate ground support equipment (tow tractors, loaders, tugs, etc.).
• Inspect ramp areas for debris and report hazards.
• Comply with security and airport procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Ramp agents provide all necessary and required under-wing ground support services as contracted by the customer, including, but not limited to, loading and unloading baggage and cargo, marshaling, water, and lavatory servicing. This role operates within a unionized environment and requires adherence to a collective agreement.

Your activities

• Marshall aircraft during arrival and departure
• Unload passenger luggage and air cargo, bulk and containers/pallets, onto carts and dollies
• Unload wheelchairs and child strollers and deliver them to the designated location
• Provide special handling of luggage/cargo as required/directed
• Deliver passenger luggage to the claim area and unload it onto the conveyor system
• Deliver air cargo to the appropriate recipient
• Drive and operate ground support equipment, including tow tractors, tow bars, belt loaders, container loaders, baggage tugs, water/lavatory service trucks, aircraft ground power units, aircraft air start units, air stairs, aircraft de-icing units, baggage carts, cargo dollies, and passenger vans.
• Collect and load mail, live animals, wheelchairs, and child strollers onto aircraft
• Service aircraft water and lavatories
• Inspect ramp areas adjacent to the gate and aircraft for debris and remove/dispose of it when found.
• Report all equipment malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor/manager
• Comply with all federal, state, municipal, airport authority, and carrier security requirements
• Other duties as assigned

Your profile

• Previous ramp experience is a plus
• Valid driver's license (7N and higher)
• Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) and DA is an assets
• Good English communication skills
• Eligible to work in Canada with a valid and open work permit
• Must be able to work in inclement weather
• Flexible to work on various shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays)
• Excellent Health & Safety Awareness
• Lift heavy objects that could reach 70 pounds (32 kilograms)
