Job summary

VIA Rail Canada is seeking a welder to support preventive maintenance and repairs at the Montreal Maintenance Center. You will work on railway cars, interior systems, and major components, diagnosing issues and collaborating with the maintenance team.

Candidates should have welding trade credentials or certifications, or related experience in transportation equipment maintenance, and be able to work day, evening, night, weekends with overtime potential. Uniforms provided and benefits included.

Qualifications

• Experience and/or certification or diploma in a skilled trade (welding).
• Experience in maintenance or assembly of transportation equipment.
• Ability to work various shifts (day, evening, night, weekends) according to a schedule established in advance.
• Journeyman certification or Red Seal is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on railway cars.
• Maintain interior systems (toilets, seats, windows, etc.).
• Work on major components (wheelsets, couplers, etc.).
• Diagnose mechanical issues and propose solutions.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team.

• Shift premiums: evening ($1.50/hour), night ($2.00/hour)
