VIA Rail Canada Inc., Canada's national passenger rail service, is currently seeking 3 Railway Car Technicians to work at its Vancouver Maintenance Center, with the possibility to work in our maintenance center in Mission.

DAY IN A LIFE AS A RAILWAY CAR TECHNICIAN

You will ensure our passenger cars operate at peak capacity year-round by servicing our national fleet through regular maintenance and heavy repairs.

The interior and exterior of our train cars require maintenance on components such as seats, toilets, tables, sinks, blinds, panels, piping (air & water), windows, brake rigging, etc.

We also train our specialized technicians to handle major components like wheelsets, couplers, springs, etc.

SCHEDULE

• The position is permanent (40 hours per week guaranteed), with a work schedule that may vary (day, evening, night, weekend, and holidays).
• Shifts are always scheduled in advance; no on-call duties, allowing you to plan your time off.
• Overtime opportunities are available.
• Candidates must be available to work any day of the week, as the Maintenance Center operates 7 days a week, 24 hours during peak season.

WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU?

Hourly salary: $35.22 - $42.49 / hour, based on experience

REQUIREMENTS

Looking for experience as:

• Millwright
• Plumber

Red Seal certified tradespersons are ideal, but we also welcome apprentices to apply.

NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS

• Red Seal certification
• Experience in machinery maintenance
• Experience assembling, mounting, or finishing transportation equipment
