Job summary

Procor Limited in North Vancouver is seeking a reliable Railcar Helper to support the repair and maintenance of railcars.

You will perform welding, cutting, and light to medium repairs, following safety standards and work orders, with potential weekend OT.

The role requires reading orders, using hand and power tools, and occasional climbing or working at heights; a valid driver’s license helps.

Qualifications

• Previous railcar repair experience and knowledge of AAR standards is an asset.
• Mechanically inclined and able to perform repairs on railcars and components.
• Competent use of hand tools and power equipment.
• Experience with stick welding (SMAW) is an asset.
• Valve training and/or certifications considered an asset.
• Must be able to read and understand written work orders and MSDS.
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions; climb, stoop and bend.

Responsibilities

• Perform railcar repairs including cutting and welding.
• Light to medium repairs to railcars.
• Read, comprehend, and follow repair orders and procedures.
• Adhere to health and safety standards and wear required PPE.
• Complete quality control checks and document results.
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM, with weekend OT as needed.

This opportunity is perfect for someone with experience looking for a stable position in an organization that offers advancement.Job Summary:Principal duties in this position are car repairs including but not limited to:Car repairs involving cutting and welding on the rail body, including tank and/or hopper, and other car componentsLight and medium-duty repairs to rail carsAdhere to health and safety standards, including Responsible Care PolicyRead, comprehend, and follow repair orders and proceduresOther related duties as assignedAppropriately wear and utilize all of the following types of safety equipment in accordance with EHS instruction and requirements: Respirators (full and half face), hearing protection, eye protection, steel toed boots, and fall protection.This role requires the successful candidate to work the schedule of Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and some weekend OT coverage on an as needed basis.
