Job summary

Marmon Holdings, Inc. in North Vancouver is seeking a Railcar Helper to support repairs on freight cars, including cutting and welding, and to follow AAR standards and safety policies.

You will read repair orders, use hand and power tools, and perform light to medium railcar repairs with attention to quality and safety, with a Monday–Friday schedule and potential weekend overtime.

Qualifications

• Previous railcar repair experience and knowledge of AAR standards.
• Mechanically inclined and able to perform all necessary repairs of railcars and their components.
• Competent and safe use of hand tools and power equipment.
• Experience with stick welding (SMAW) is an asset.
• Valve training and/or certifications considered an asset.
• Must be able to read and understand written work orders and material safety data sheets.

Responsibilities

This opportunity is perfect for someone with experience looking for a stable position in an organization that offers advancement.Job Summary:Principal duties in this position are car repairs including but not limited to:* Car repairs involving cutting and welding on the rail body, including tank and/or hopper, and other car components* Light and medium-duty repairs to rail cars* Adhere to health and safety standards, including Responsible Care Policy* Read, comprehend, and follow repair orders and procedures* Other related duties as assigned* Appropriately wear and utilize all of the following types of safety equipment in accordance with EHS instruction and requirements: Respirators (full and half face), hearing protection, eye protection, steel toed boots, and fall protection.This role requires the successful candidate to work the schedule of Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and some weekend OT coverage on an as needed basis.
