Job summary

ONxpress Civils is seeking a Safety Advisor to support GO Expansion track work. You will perform hazard assessments, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead safety trainings for rail construction teams.

The role includes incident investigations, safety inspections, and developing site safety plans across GTA projects. Qualified candidates have 2–5 years in rail safety, a relevant OH&S diploma, and a valid G‑license.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in rail operations, rail construction or track protection health and safety.
• Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• A valid G-class driver’s license is a must.
• Experience on rail construction projects is an asset and familiarity with rail construction terminology.
• Strong knowledge of the Health and Safety Act and regulations.
• Ability to effectively communicate with project teams, subcontractors and clients.
• Willingness to work nights and weekends and to travel across the GTA.

Responsibilities

• Hazard assessment and management at construction sites, mitigating health, safety and security risks.
• Regulatory compliance with health and safety regulations and standards.
• Provide safety training and education for workers and site managers.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct safety inspections and audits and report findings to improve safety performance.
• Develop and implement site-specific health and safety plans with project teams.
• Oversee major track closures and ensure safety practices are followed with accurate reporting.
