Job summary

Canadian Pacific Railway is seeking a Conductor to join a train crew and assist in switching cars and building trains in yards. You will be outdoors in all weather and may be away from home for extended periods, following strict safety rules and procedures.

Responsibilities include signaling, coordinating movements, and applying emergency procedures when needed. The role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work unscheduled shifts in a 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

• Must be physically able to perform demanding tasks, including long walks, lifting up to 80 pounds, and working outdoors in all weather.
• Excellent focus, attention to detail and ability to multitask.
• Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED plus a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a train crew to switch rail cars and move trains in yards.
• Coordinate switching of cars and signaling using radio and hand signals.
• Follow GCOR, general orders and bulletins for safe operations.
• Provide flag protection and relay signals during emergencies.
