Job summary

Canadian Pacific Railway (CPKC) is hiring a Conductor in Revelstoke, BC. This foundational role supports train crews, assists in switching rail cars, and moves trains within yards, with safety as a priority in all weather.

You must be able to work unscheduled shifts, long hours, and extended periods away from home. The job offers 16 weeks of paid training, $5,000 relocation assistance, and lodging options, with clear pathways to roles like Yard Foreperson or Locomotive Engineer.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform physically demanding work such as walking up to 10 km a day on uneven ground and lifting heavy objects.
• Willingness to work unscheduled shifts in a 24/7 operating environment.
• Long shifts (up to 12 hours) including days, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to report to work within a two hour call window after scheduled rest.
• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Work in either train or yard service depending on seniority.
• Carry out instructions detailing a train's route and movements.
• Coordinate switching of cars, including coupling/uncoupling.
• Observe, interpret and relay signals affecting movement of trains.
• Signal crew via radio or signals for engine movement.
• Follow General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR) and safety bulletins.
