Hitachi Rail Canada Inc. is offering an ITV Automation Specialist Intern position in Toronto, Ontario. The internship runs January 2027 through December 2027 (12 months) with full-time hours (40 per week) and a hybrid work model.

The role focuses on automation testing, Python/Perl scripting, and integration into CI/CD pipelines. It requires current study in CS/EE/related fields, knowledge of Python, and experience with testing tools. Compensation is $23–$30 CAD per hour.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in a related field.
• Software development or testing experience.
• Knowledge of Python programming.
• Experience with C, C++, Perl, or Python.
• Familiarity with Git and Agile/DevOps.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze system, subsystem and software requirements to perform verification activities using automation tools.
• Assist in design, development and maintenance of automated test scripts in Python/Perl.
• Support integration of test scripts into automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
• Communicate test observations and results clearly to engineers and customers.
• Promote safety by ensuring test strategies incorporate safety-related defect resolution.
