Job summary

Hitachi Rail Canada Inc. seeks an Electrical Component Engineering Intern for Rail. This 16‑month internship blends on‑site work and hybrid arrangements at Scarborough, ON, with a 40‑hour work week and $23–$30 CAD hourly pay. You will support component management, compliance, and design tasks.

The role targets students in electrical/electronics/mechatronics/engineering physics, in their third year, available for full duration, with prior coop experience a plus.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics/Engineering Science or Engineering Physics degree.
• Currently in the third year of undergraduate study and eligible for a 16-month co-op.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work on project-based tasks.

Responsibilities

• Manage component database and create new part numbers.
• Support REACH/RoHS compliance and obsolescence analysis.
• Assist hardware design with alternate component solutions.
• Prepare complete component specifications for all families.
• Coordinate with procurement, suppliers and contract manufacturers.
