Job summary

Hitachi Rail in Toronto, Ontario, invites applications for a Hardware Test Engineering Intern for a 16‑month internship. You will document test procedures for simulators and automated hardware testers, manage PLM documentation, and coordinate with engineering to source parts.

The role blends on-site and hybrid work with hands-on projects. Ideal candidates are pursuing an engineering degree (Electrical/Mechatronics, etc.), with strong communication and CAD experience (AutoCAD/OrCAD).

Qualifications

Engineering degree in a relevant field and current 3rd year of undergraduate study.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with project-based environments is a plus.
Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD) is an asset.
Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Document designs and test procedures for simulators and hardware test equipment with design engineering.
Manage the approval and release process for docs in a PLM system.
Coordinate with Component Engineering to obtain part numbers for new components.
Support upgrade, modification and assembly of simulators and test systems.
Assist in validation and debugging of simulators using LabVIEW/TestStand.
